And the other time he had a call 7 miles away from the coffee shop we were at and ran code the whole way. I am not fond of speeds of 110-120mph so the whole time im praying and saying, "Trust in God and Trust in Rodney." When we got there my adreniline was rushing and I loved it. I sat in the car while he dealt with the scum bags for a little over an hour. Then I asked him to take me home. That was enough excitment for me for the night. Lol. Rodney was a little dissapointed I wanted to go home and said he loved having me with him. We just attended a seminar put together by The Lion's department about the emotional survival of police officers and how it's just as important for the officer to remember that he has to protect his relationships and his emotional safety as much as he has to protect his physical safety. Unfortunately, we attended it the morning after he'd worked an extra job and he was pretty tired and cranky. The Lionesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10200307559450619355noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2370084756184360123.post-78460558077530233652012-01-31T07:25:20.183-08:002012-01-31T07:25:20.183-08:00We have that exact one, too! We survive. Some of us go on to have families of our own, and we remember those "mean cops" who saved us against our wills, when we were too young to know that there was something else, something beautiful out in the world. We would never have known without their help.
I'm a mother of four, with a husband eagerly anticipating his law-enforcement career. It may be a comfort to him, as I sincerely hope it is to you & yours, that I pray every day for the man who saved me 20 years ago. He wasn't my hero at first, but he became my hero when he told me that there was a better life out there for me, and I could see that he knew that personally, so I believed him. I believed him with all my heart! And he was right! :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2370084756184360123.post-62808070601177006742011-12-06T17:16:05.997-08:002011-12-06T17:16:05.997-08:00My FTO told me that very thing "Watch your ba...My FTO told me that very thing "Watch your back". The advice he gave me was suspenders, but our dept doesn't allow suspenders over our uniform, so I was checking different catalogs and found some suspenders that go under your duty shirt, so far they work great (does take a little altering of the duty shirt, but where I order mine from they alter them for me). That has made a big difference with me.

I have recently started visiting a physical therapist. I try to visit there once a week (depending on schedule and all that). They do exercises that help strengthen my back muscles and to take of the joints. Also, at the PT I visit they have a massage therapist on sight, so I visit the MT every two weeks or so (again depends on schedule).Western Po-Ponoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2370084756184360123.post-31712979902676195652011-12-05T22:00:57.244-08:002011-12-05T22:00:57.244-08:00K9 Cop- I am sure you saved your wife a lot of str...K9 Cop- I am sure you saved your wife a lot of stress by the simple act of using your personal cell to make that call. The counseling has helped and there are still times where maybe sleep isn't as great as a person would help, but I wouldn't trade any of it for anything in this world.

I feel that the things I have seen and gone through so far while on the job has affected me, but affected me in a way that makes me a better officer.

Great blog!

A western po-poAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2370084756184360123.post-28522905526995015742011-11-28T14:13:51.404-08:002011-11-28T14:13:51.404-08:00DA's are so over worked that they will rarely ...DA's are so over worked that they will rarely take anything that isn't a slam dunk case. Only if the case has a real political slant or you have an exceptional DA who is willing to try cases that aren't gimmies. At my old agency, we still dusted stolens, but we did not even respond to vehicle burglaries, so those weren't getting dusted. Lots of other things too. Money is tight and resources slim. And you wait, I betcha see a "reduction in crime stats" being touted, when in reality, we are not going to take the reports anymore, so that is what really lowers the stats. - OfficerAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2370084756184360123.post-72614207396989455032011-11-23T13:50:40.154-08:002011-11-23T13:50:40.154-08:00I don't print anything unless I can see a prin...I don't print anything unless I can see a print and it inside.
